How do you walk your dog off lead?

Does anyone know?

at night time, me and my dad take timmy for a walk without the lead. and at the curb he stops and waits until we say ok and then he goes.
but he pees on every single tree.

haha but do you know

first you have to practise in the backyard with the lead on but u have to give him treats while your walking with him.

then you take the lead off and have the treats in your hand and he should walk next to you.

then after a couple of days, dont use treats and hopefully he will follow you

and finally when you have done this alot you can try outside the backyard BUT make sure there is a fast runner around so that if he begins to run away they can help catch him.

if this tactic doesn't work tell me.

oh and you need to be patient you also have to be stern so he knows who the master is but never ever hit him when he does something wrong just tell him off and if he runs away try call him to come to u but when he comes praise him but if he doesn't come and you have to go get him, praise him wen u get him otherwise he is going to think; "if i run away and let my owner catch me i will be scolded" u have to praise him that way he'll think; "if i run away and let my owner catch me i will be praised"
